No charges have been placed. "The accident is still under investigation," he said.
This is the first fatality in that area in the past five or six years, said Settle. There have been serious accidents though in which " people have been maimed for life," he said.
"The Thornton Gap crossing is advertised in motorcycle magazines and on the Internet as being one of the top five sites in Virginia. It is an attraction to motorcyclists because of its curving, winding roads," said ' Settle.
"Every weekend it is not uncommon for us to work three or four motorcycle accidents especially when the weather is cooperating," said Settle.
