In addition to those who helped serve the food and clean up afterwards, other volunteers decorated the festive party center with flags, banners and flower arrangements. Charlotte Tummeyer and Karla Miller did facepainting for the children.
Many area businesses and civic clubs donated food and other goods to make “Rappahannock Night” the rousing success it is each year. This year’s contributors include the Bleu Rock Inn, FT Valley Grocery, Griffin Tavern, Diana’s Country Diner, The Public House, Pizza Hut and Melting Pot of Front Royal, Mountainside Market, Muskrat Haven, Rae’s Place, Settles’ Grocery, The Country Caf^) and The Inn at Little Washington.
The Women on Mission of Washington Baptist Church provided dessert. More than a dozen members of the Rappahannock Lions Club helped with the festivities.
Monetary donations to help defray costs of the event were made by BB&T Bank, Rappahannock National Bank, Sen. Eugene McCarthy, Hampton Foundation, Sam Snead Realty and Persimmon Springs Florist at Huntly.
The organizing committee which does all the hard work each year, assisted by its many volunteers, includes Jan Palmer-Besecker, Beverly Atkins, Sandra Jenkins, Marie Davis, Ester Settle, Jan Makela and a representative of the Rappahannock Lions Club.
