Rappahannock County Public Schools Superintendent Bob Chappell said he intends to meet with state officials regarding the recently released Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) report which was released last month by the Virginia Department of Education.
Chappell fears inaccurate data was used in the evaluation of schools and is concerned that although Rappahannock County Elementary School met the federal definition for AYP, both the high school and the system at la'rge failed to do so.
“Our position, which I will discuss in person with state officials befpre the next School Board meeting, is that there may be some inaccurate data being used to determine the AYP status of RCHS,” said Chappell in a reply to a reporter’s question.
