Candidates to speak
at Headwaters’ forum

With three contested seats in this November’s School Board election, voters want to know how candidates stand on the issues.
What do they see as Rappahannock County public school’s greatest strength? Its weaknesses? And what is their vision for instructional programming in the schools?
These quest’om, along with others submitted by the public, will be answered Oct. 9 at the Rappahannock County Public Library during a forum sponsored by Headwaters at 7 p.m.
Candidates running for office who will be present at the forum include Wesley Mills, who announced in September that he is running as a write in candidate hoping to retain the Jackson seat. Opposing him is Ron Makela.
Jim Oyster and Meredith Gorfein, both running for the Hampton seat, are vying to fill a position vacated by board member Douglas Baumgardner.
Sharon Kilpatrick, who was appointed to fill the Stonewall-Hawthome seat after the passing of Frank Warner earlier this summer, will be facing off against Ken Marlor.
Alene Johnson from the Piedmont District and Rosa Crocker from the Wakefield District are both running uncontested for reelection.
