Student authors and illustrators Emily Irene Little, Caroline M. T. Massie, Brian J. Ross II, Stevie R. RoSs, Keenan Sherwood and Devin Sherwood took the ‘Create-A-Book Challenge” sponsored by the Rappahannock County Library and ended up with a published 16-page hardback book.
The new authors, 17 summer reading medalists, 47 reading patch winners and honorary award winners Denise K and Averill Ring were honored at the library on Sept. 27.
Besides having to create t he text and lay out the book, authors were responsible for a variety of illustrations ranging from original and computer generated art to photographs and collages.
Little’s Rainy Day Poems offers ten original poems and six colorful illustrations. Massie’s HogHeaven reveals a swine’s wish to become a champion, a feat Caroline accomplished this summer during the Culpeper County 4-H Fair. Ross, II’s Mysteria Totus Dementia puts a new twist on eight fables while his sister Stevie’s Best Friends 4-Ever offers a thought provoking look at friendship.
