Rappahannock County High School had two late additions to its faculty this year.
Haf Davies, a visiting eighth grade English teacher from England, joined Rappahannock’s faculty several days prior to the start of school while Sarah Burke, who will be teaching eighth grade math this year, has been in her classroom for only two weeks.
Davies is part of Visiting International Faculty, a program which aims to introduce American students to cultures they might not otherwise discover. The program places teachers from nations around the globe in American schools.
Her goals this year are twofold. Personally, Davies, who is in the United States for the first time, hopes to be able to travel as much as possible and learn about her new surroundings. But she has not forgotten about her students.
Professionally Davies said she hopes to “deliver a good American curriculum with the added bonus of the unique things I can bring from England.”
