‘Seabiscuit’: showing
the 1949 version
and the new one

RAAC will replace the usual Second Friday at the Library series with a movie on Friday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. The movie, shown without charge at the library, is “The Story of Seabiscuit 1949.”
RAAC will follow up this movie with the recent film, “Seabiscuit,” at the Theatre on Gay Street on Oct. 17 at 8 p.m.
A charming Shirley Temple stars in the 1949 version of “Seabiscuit” shown in color. A famous native of Ireland, Barry Fitzgerald, plays a horse trainer renowned for his ability to pick a winning thoroughbred at age one. When he’s hired by a breeder in Kentucky, he spots a champion in a yearling named “Seabiscuit,” but noone else shares his faith.
