We have always been forthcoming with information when requested to the extent possible at the time. I have never said a deputy's report was unreadable, but I have declined to provide details on cases under active investigation where disclosure would jeopardize victims, witnesses and arrests. It is important to remember that complainants and victims in many cases have an expectation of anonymity and privacy.
We also understand that the media has an important job in reporting news and events. Our office has always, and will continue to be helpful by providing timely information.
