Horse show at Bleu Rock

Announcing the first of what promises to be a series of horse shows throughout the year, the Bleu Rock Farm Inn is holding a "ghouls and goblins” Halloween schooling horse show on Sunday, Nov. 2 at 8:30 a.m. There will be classes for children, young horses and a costume class. Conservation meeting

The Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its monthly Board of Directors’ meeting on Nov. 4 at the Rappahannock Extension Office at 9:30 a.m. Meetings rotate alphabetically on a county basis by the five counties served by the District: Culpeper, Greene, Madison, Orange and Rappahannock. Mystic Fire performance

Mystic Fire, Rappahannock's own Oriental (belly dance) dance group will perform its first full length show at Ki Theatre in Washington on Nov. 7 and 8 at 8 p.m. Mystic Fire draws its inspiration from a mixture of tribal and Egyptian dances, especially those of an ancient gypsy quality. CCLC annual auction

The Child Care and Learning Center will hold its eighth annual Fall Auction and Party on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the Washington School on Mt. Salem Avenue in Washington. An admission fee of $20 includes food and libations. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for refreshments and browsing in the Tag Sale Room, bidding on silent auction items and getting a close look at the items up for live auction at 7 p.m.

Cemetery cleanup Nov. 8

Everyone is invited to join in a general cleanup day for Sperryville Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. Bring whatever tools that may be of use in cleanup and trash removal. Refreshments provided.

Honor a veteran

Tri-M, Rappahannock County High School’s Music Honor Society, is selling 8 1/2x11 inch flags to honor veterans on Veterans Day. Persons purchasing the flags can designate the name of a veteran, living or deceased, to be affixed to the flag’s pole. The flags will be displayed on the front lawn of the high school for the RCHS Band’s Veterans Day Concert to be held Nov. 11. The deadline for flag orders is Nov. 8. Flag order forms are available at: 211 Quicky Mart, Burgers 'N' Things, Amissville Baptist and Methodist churches, Hillsdale, Rick’s Custom Welding, Mayhughs, Sperryville Corner Store, Country Cafe, the post offices in Sperryville, Washington and Amissville, RCES, RCHS, Rappahannock County Library and School Board Office. Orders for the flags are on a first come, first served basis.

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board and Area Agency on Aging will hold its regular monthly meeting on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., at 15361 Bradford Road, Culpeper. Free Clinic open

The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local branch of the Fauquier Free Clinic, operates on the first, third and fifth Wednesdays of each month at the Rappahannock County Health Department in Washington.
