Immediately on your right, just behind the old mill house, you could hear chatter, laughter, and dancing. Above this noise you could also hear Sam Whorton’s fiddle and the rest of the boys playing their various instruments. Turning in by the store, you could briefly stop at the store basement and get a cold “beverage” from the spring water, cooling trough, that ran under the store.
A couple of these, would loosen up those dancing feet, not to mention the loosened mouth that would cause trouble later.
