I had to check my paper twice
when I read the article “What schools need” in the May 13 issue of the Rappahannock News to make sure that I was not reading “Down Memory Lane.”
The issues were the same as when I graduated from Rappahannock County High School in 1979. I too practiced cheerleading in the halls and ran hurdles without a track. I am amazed that students 25 years later are still up against the same obstacles.
I echo the voices of others that “our children are our future,” but my voice may be from a minority that is not often heard from by the Board of Supervisors. Because of some very strong and suppdrtive teachers, I met my goal of graduating from college, and becoming a nurse and later attending graduate school. I married and had four children. We now live in Falls Church, Va., and pay some of the highest taxes in the state and benefit from some of the best schools in the country.
I am however also a taxpayer in Rappahannock County. We are fortunate enough to own a home in my beloved county where my children can spend their weekends outdoors, see their grandparents and experience the
