By Bette Mahoney Special to the Rappahannock News The sun did shine on Rappahannock’s annual Relay for Life which took place Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, May 22-23 at the Rappahannock County Elementary School. The walkers greeted the sun and warm weather with enthusiasm. Opening ceremonies began with the Star Spangled Banner sung by Kay Finnerty. Chairman Ben Atkins introduced the Relay chairmen and team captains. Ester Settle and Darlene Gallo, two cancer survivors, gave brief statements of “hope.” Carolyn Leake, the Correction A May 23 article, ‘What the state budget means to Rappahannock County' incorrectly reported the amount of a raise that Sheriff Larry Sherertz will receive. The correct amount is $2,638.
