Program on Medicare
drug discount cards
scheduled for June 2
The Medicare Modernization Act of 2003 has added some help in obtaining prescriptions drugs in the form of discount cards. The procedure for obtaining the Medicare Approved Discount Cards can be confusing since the person with Medicare has to choose the right card for her or his needs.
Added to this there is also a $600 credit that certain low income persons may be eligible for. It is based on the person’s annual income but requires an enrollment in the Medicare Approved Drug Discount program.
These programs will take effect in June of 2004. If you would like more help in understanding the application process and the benefits for each of these programs, a senior advocate from the RappahannockRapidan County Services Board/Area Agency on Aging will give a presentation at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Site on Wednesday, June 2 at 1 p.m. For further information call (540) 675-2615.
