Survivor Chairman, Mary Ann Krammes, the Luminary Chair, and Kay Finnerty led the survivors in singing Paul Reisler’s new song “I Gotta Live.” They were accompanied by Steve Van Dam. The song was written by Paul Reisler and a small group of survivors especially for the Relay.
This was followed by a brief ceremony in honor of the cancer survivors who then began the Relay by walking the first lap. The survivors carried purple “Relay” balloons and released them as they completed the circuit.
Members of the 25 teams then walked the track. At 6 o’clock food was served in the cafeteria. Entertainment included face-painting, a DJ, dancing, karaoke, and plain old socializing and fun.
Tbwards dark, the luminaries in honor of cancer survivors and in memory of cancer victims were placed around the track. The Reisler song was again sung and the
