Lauren Payne was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome when she was two-and-a-half years old. Rett Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects only girls and only about one girl in every 15,000. Lauren’s symptoms include daily seizures, lack of muscle control, and the inability to talk.
Knowing how much her daughter would enjoy riding in the parade, Wanda Payne of Gid Brown Hollow in Sperryville entered Lauren in the Little Miss Sperryville Carnival Queen Contest. The candidate who sells the most tickets by Saturday will win. Tickets are $1 and are available by calling the Paynes at 987
