'The phone didn't ring for me in those days," he said. “I got into the business at the age of 21, and I started cold-calling people. I didn’t go to my friends at first because I didn't want to put pressure on them.
“I was in D.C. for 41 years, and I came down here to Warren ton four years ago."
At first Engel tried to commute to his job in the District, but that proved too enervating. So last December he made a change.
“I decided to go on my own, become independent,” he said. "Now I have a five-minute commute to my office.”
And the atmosphere in the office definitely is more casual than before.
