, This letter was emailed to friends and family in Warrenton after the tragedy involving the deaths of two Virginia Army National Guard soldiers. It was written by Sgt. First Class Patrick Gleason who is stationed in Afghanistan:
/'wish I were writing to you with better news regarding
3/ 116th Infantry combat tour in Afghanistan On Aug. 8,
we lost two of our best soldiers, Staff Sgt. Craig Cherry and Spc. Bobby Beasely. They and an Afghan interpreter were killed when a command-detonated explosive device blew up under their Hummer.
Sgt. Cherry was an outstanding soldier and a true patriot.
