Patti Waddell and other family members are mailing daily care packages to Virginia National Guard soldiers and hope others in Rappahannock County will pitch in. The gifts may be brought to the Rappahannock News' office at 249 Main Street in Washington, Va., where Waddell will pick them up and take them to the National Guard Armory in Winchester for shipment. The material is packed in boxes for individual soldiers by the Family Readiness Group under the auspices of Michelle Nelson wife of Capt. Mark Nelson one of the officers on deployment.
