Having passed the county’s five-year Comprehensive Plan last month, the Planning Commission this fall is beginning a series of hearings on the issues of development in the county. Among the subjects to be examined are the nature of people who are buying land and an examination of the boundaries and growth possibilities of the villages including the Tbwn of Washington.

Another question posed by Planning Commission member Charles W. Strittmatter was to invite members of other planning boards in counties with less growth controls to see how they might have structured their laws differently. The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors last month set a goal of trying to reduce Fauquier’s annual population growth rate. Fauquier has some 60,000 citizens.
