On parade night, Flint Hill's Sunnyslopes, owned by James Burke, provided the staging area for dozens of vehicles an,d groups. Red and Janet Hofer answered a last minute call to ferry the Grand Marshal] in style as he led the parade. Chief James R. Dishner, President of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association, drove from Williamsburg to serve as Grand Marshall, accompanied by Mrs. Dishner, then turned right around and rushed home for other official duties. Kena Temple brought their minivehicles to delight paradegoers, as area groups twirled, played, and marched proudly in the colorful procession.
Inners Events provided rides, refreshments, and games that set the tone for the muchloved summer tradition, and the company staffed the event with polite and dutiful men and women who were a pleasure to be around.
