Miller contacted Brown asking about her priorities and the two agreed they were aiming for Brown to run her own operation. "It was a slow process," said Brown. Start up was slow and Brown said, "It took a year to learn the cycle of things and it took a while to train the dogs to move the cows." As a part of her rotational grazing techniques Brown is required to move a herd of 140 cattle two times a day.
"Cliff was shocked at first, but I think now he understands it. He has had to have a lot of trust in me," said Brown.
