Miller wants to see his land continue to be farmed in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner hopefully for another five generations. With no one in his family with the interest or skills to farm, Miller realized he had to look elsewhere if he wanted to see his vision fulfilled.
"If you know what you want the next step is to figure out how to do it,” said Miller. Deciding that his assets were a good farm that was well situated and a wish to keep it in the family, Miller concluded what was needed was, "an innovative farmer that wanted to farm the way I do for the long haul." Miller understood that establishing this kind of relationship would be difficult in an employer/employee system. "When I read Becky’s resume I was ready to act and she was understandably reticent about a long term commitment," said Miller.
