“When I look around Rappahannock County I see too many Farms that have been split up,” he said. “With the spiraling rate of inflation and taxation, if the farms do not become sustainable, then we will go the way of Culpeper, Warren and Fauquier."
Concessions will need to be made on both sides for the farms to survive, he said.
“If I did not have a love for the farm, which was granted to me by my iuther and 1 hope to pass on to my children, I'd sell it. I promise you my motivation in doing this is so the farms in Rappahannock will survive intact for future generations, which I believe to be in the best longterm interest of Rappahannock County."
Money talks
Fletcher then sent a challenge to the crowd in the auditorium, saving, “If anyone can show me a way that adds less impact and would make the farm sustainable, I would be more than happy to listen to them.”
