Last year, the Lady Panthers posted just two wins.
This season, they’ve already found the win column three times — they still have seven names left in the regular season — and they've got a 6-foot-1inch center to thank.
Kim Hutcheson, the lady in the middle of the Panthers' sturting rotation, is averaging 14 points and 12 rebounds on the season. And she's only getting stronger. In three of her last 10 games, Hutcheson has posted at least 20 points and 15 rebounds.
“She's tall and has a nose for the ball," RCHS coach Scott Wilde said. “She's a very active player. She knows how to get open in the post and she gets great positioning for rebounds."
In December, against St, Puul’s School for Girls. Hutcheson had a career-best 24points and 15 rebounds. Two weeks later, she set a new career-high when she poured in 25 points and 16 rebounds. But. according to Hutcheson, her best performance came last week in a 13-point loss to Manassas Park. The Kt’HS senior scored 21 points and grabbed 21 rebounds against the Lady Panthers' Bull Hun District list
“I feel more confident with the ball this year." Hutcheson said. “Last year I was a little hesitant, but this year I'm more aggressive.
Hutcheson, who also stars for the volleyball team in the fall ami the soccer team in the spring, says that each night she feels like she should get a double-double.
