“The other schools are getting bigger and we’re getting smaller," Czekaj said. “The nice thing about the Shenandoah District is that its schools are growing at a slower pace, and they already have smaller schools.”
Czekaj has warned, however, that competition in • the Shenandoah District might still be stiff.
Principal Puryear said Rappahannock’s challenges as a smull school will not change.
“The problems are not going to go away,” she said. “We’re going to be the smallest school in whichever district we play. There are schools our size in this state, but they are two and a half or three hours away, which makes it unrealistic to play in those districts.”
The committee’s decision can be uppealed until March 19, but Puryear said an appeal is unlikely.
