“Both the Shenandoah and Bull Run districts were not in favor of the move,” Czekaj said. “The Shenandoah has a restriction on travel time, and they didn’t want to negatively affect the Bull Run District by leaving them with only five teams.”

Rappahannock County High School currently vies with larger schools in the Bull Run District. And with enrollment mirroring the Northern Virginia population boom, the schools are also growing faster than Rappahannock.

“The move would’ve helped in some sports,” he said.
