The rising number of people enrolling for free EMT i Emergency Medical Technician) training for the Sperryvtlle Rescue Squad has been accompanied by a rise in enrollment by current and new tire and rescue volunteers from other squads. Imagine the positive benefits to this increased enrollment and joint training! First, the county will have more certified EMTs to meet emergency health care needs. Second, the joint training has the potential to build cross squau relationships which will result in better communication and cooperation. Third, with the high number of enrollees, the Virginia Department of Health. Office of Emergency Medical Services, will pay for this course, saving the county money. Collaboration and cooperation, letting go of parochial turf battles. can serve us well. The response to the availability of this training is one more reflection of the spirit of service and caring that prevails in Rappahannock County. It is so true that “a rising tide floats all bouts" The greater our joint effort to improve all rescue services. the greater will be our sense of County well being. We still need more volunteers in Sperryville. It is not too late to get into the rising tide of voluntarism in rebuilding the rescue squud. Coll Geraldine Payne 987-9186.
