Forgery sentence
On Jan. 14 in Rappahannock County Circuit Court, Lawrence Wood Jr. was sentenced to two years in jail for. charges of stealing checks,.check forgery and entering a .property with intent to dam-,age. The 32-year-old Rapidan ,r man also has to serve a sentence of 11 years and threemonths for probation violations. v
He told the court that he .» has 36 past felony convictions • for check forgeries and using *' forged checks. In the latest •'' instance. Wood said he entered a home to steal the checks. The " victim, an elderly woman, was home at the time, he said.
Wood will be under post- ’ release supervision for three - years after getting out of jail. “
Habitual offender
Jimmy Wayne Nicholson ' was sentenced to two years in jail Jan. 14 for driving after being declared a habitual offender. The charge is a felony - and was tried in Rappahannock County Circuit Court.
Nicholson had another six * months suspended from the sentence and 15 days suspended for refusing to take a blood test. He will have to serve that time if he has any violations during his six months of , supervised probation after the jail time is served. He also has to pay $1,325 in court costs.
