On Jan. 14, the Rappahannock School and County Funding Team (Roger Welch, Ron Frazier, Rosa Crocker, Wes Mills, John McCarthy, and Bob Chappell» asked Jan Makela to coordinate efforts to get community members involved in the team’s efforts to get Rapp’s “Fair Funding" bills approved in the Virginin General Assembly. Makela, who taught at RCES for many years following a stint ns the school’s volunteer coordinator, is “well organized, energetic, and well-respected by everyone on the community,” according to Superintendent Chappell. Makela will work with Chappell, team chairman John McCarthy and Amy Silver-O’Leary as an informal steering committee.
