Thu restaurant business in Rappahannock County took a dive this pust week with two establishments closing and a third is set for foreclosure.
The Public House ~ a longtime fixture in Flint Hill - and POllagatta's Eatery in Sperryvdle announced they havo closed for business, and an ad in today’s paper annouiK.es the foreclosure of the Blue Rock Inn on Loe Highway just outside of Washington.
An auction of the 80-acre Blue Rock Inn property is scheduled for l p.m. tomorrow in front of the Rappahannock ' aunty courthouse,
However, current chef and general manager Jim McCullough said there are no immediate plans to close the restuurant and bar.
Although other issues have impacted each of these businesses including a drop in the number of patrons from previous years in a slowing economy - a key contributor has been the sharply rising cost of food.
