Ted Pellegatta’g garrulous nature, good food, the guest chef series and that wonderful deck by the Thornton River all combined to make this eatery a favorite community gathering place in Sperryville.
News of our neighbors and the world were discussed along with that morning cup of coffee and Ted’s breakfast egg biscuits. Food costs have risen 38 percent during the last year. The fuel adjustment drop off charge added to the delivery bill has increased from seven percent to 17 percent. Ftersonnel issues and problems added to the stress of running a small business.
Ted closed his doors on Sunday afternoon, surrounded by a group of loyal patrons who toasted him with champagne and thanked him for providing us with this friendly place to meet and share each other’s company. Ted will be spending time at a high school reunion and plans to go to St. Croix this winter, but he has always been a fixture in Sperryville and we know we will see him in town or taking his daily walks. We wish him well.
