J«W* Phimer, who graduated from Kappahmmoek County High School last .war, returned to his alma muter this summer for a lour week internship to help inspire other ttappahamiock students to go to college.

"t wouldn't be at Stanibrd tUDiversity) without Next Step," he said in a recent interview. "1 showed up in my senior year of high school with no idea of how to Ret to college."
How Jesse got to college was through the Next Step College mui Career Access IVegram at KCHS. directed by Miranda Hope, and by hC HS guidance department director Jason Cochenour.
“I had never considered leaving, the oast coast until Ms, Hope asked me if 1 had thought about Stanford,’' •Jesse recalled. "1 also received three Next Step scholarships. So, l thought that it would be interesting, to work with Ms, Hope on the other side of that pregram mid also, to try to give back to it,"
Jesse's internship was a partnership between Headwaters, the Kuppahamiock County Ihiblic Education Foundation, and the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University in Pftlo
