Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue has a new ambulance to respond to emergency calls. Its old 1997 ambulance has been out of service for two months due to prohibitive repair costs.
The new ambulance cost just over $152,000. and was largely ' funded by a generous grant from the Jesse and Rose Loeb Foundation.
After reviewing the number of emergency calls for Washington and the condition of the old ambulance, the foundation recognized the benefit to the Rappahannock community of replacing the old ambulance.
Washington's new ambulance incorporates design features developed by Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue to care for seriously ill patients during the time it takes to transport them to emergency care.
