Two petite figures, Margot Neuhaus and Julie Portman, were often seen along the banks of the Rush River and in the adjoining woods, stopping to create sculptures known only to them and whose ephemeral nature reflected Sperryville artist Margot Neuhaus’ philosophy.

“My artistic expression is like my own life,” says Neuhaus. “It’s about leaving materials behind in search of light and simplicity.”
