Susan Weinberg, daughter of Robert and Wendy Weinberg of Slate Mills, recently won the 1984 Antietam Review Literary Award for her short story, “Super- 8.” Weinberg, 24, is a 1982 graduate of Boston University, and currently is an MFA candidate at Cornell. Weinberg received $200 for “Super-8,” about teenagers dealing with a tragedy while filming an amateur movie. The story appears in the 1984 Antietam Review, an annual literary journal.
Memorial Day services scheduled for outdoors last Monday weren’t dropped despite intermittent rain that fell during the holiday weekend. Reverend Jennings Hobson had announced a “serious rain” game plan prior to the event. Originally scheduled to take place in Woodville at St. Paul’s Cemetery, the Memorial Day service was moved one-half hour before its start-time to Trinity Church in Washington.
