Appointments
Jean Lillard of the Hampton District was appointed to the Board of Assessors. She was the only one that had responded to the advertisement for applications published in the newspaper. McCarthy informed the Board that the Board of Assessors must have a minimum of three members.
The new board must be seated by January 1, 2010. It was generally agreed that it was a thankless task, and that not many people really wanted to serve in that capacity. No new ads are being placed, but supervisors will be approaching potential candidates individually.
Other items
Private donations for Rappahannock schools will not be accepted by the county but may be made to the School Board directly.
