Bridge work
Virginia Department of Transportation personnel were in Sperryville last week drilling and collecting core samples for a new bridge over the Thornton River on Route 522 near The Corner Store. Samples of soil and rock will be used to design the foundations for the bridge to replace the current structure around 2012-13. From left are Bruce Jackson, Charles Haines, and Richard Williams from the Chantilly office. Also on the job, but not shown, are Elmer Parker, Mike Sours, and Junior Jenkins of Rappahannock County.
