Candidates for the Rappahannock
County Board of Supervisors have always run as individuals -? never according to political party This year, however, Tom Junk and Tern- Dixon, candidates in the Piedmont and Stonewall-Hawthome districts respectively, have turned their backs on county tradition going back generations, opting instead to run as conservative Republicans.
By contrast, Chris Parrish, Dixon’s opponent, also a Republican, is running, not as a member of a political party, but as a neighbor, fanner, conservationist and lifelong resident of this county. Junk’s opponent, Mike Biniek, is running as a farmer and educator.
In years past, the political parties of our candidates for Board of Supervisors were never advertised. Their party affiliation didn’t matter then and it shouldn’t matter now.
