Prepares for Summer
In their April meeting, the town council .of Washington made arrange* ments to have the town lots mowed during the summer and attended various other spring clean up business.
Among the topics discussed among t}ie council members were the follow*’ ing: - i -1. The council agreed to ask the firemen to clean up the materials used during the construction recently, and to clean the firehouse grounds.
2. It was agreed to table the suggestion of improving the fire house by additional construction. __
3. It was decided to spring cean the town hall.
4. There was a report on the repairing of the culvert on Main and Porter Street. (This work was com. pleted on Wednesday.)
5. Arrangements were made to keep the town' lots mowed during the summer.
6. Signs will be secured, if possible, to erect on the approaches of town, cautioning the motorists to watch out for children. v 8. A report was given on the petition which has been on file before the judge. For some time the town has been required to pay a fee on the town water fountains. They have felt that this is unnecessary and accordingly, put this matter into the hands of a lawyer. A reply was re-" ceived from the lawyer representing the water bondsmen stating that the water rent (that was being held hr “Escrow”) could be used only to purchase water bonds or to buy backinterest on bonds. A motion was made and passed to find out if there are bonds for sale, and if so, what are the prices of these bonds. Z. Two projects, the painting of the hydrants, and the planting of the dogwood, trees have been favorably taken care of.
