Richmond, Va., April IS—The 1954 session of the General Assembly of Virginia increased the maximum amount of unemployment insurance benefits payable to a claimant from $22 to $24 per week, depending upon earnings of claimant, and continued themaximuni durati6h~-of“T6“tirhes the weekly benefit. <
However, the Assembly provided that no claimant could receive more amount, regardless of “benefit year," than 16 times the weekly benefit from any one spell of unemployment until the claimant had worked at least 30 days in covered employment.
This means that a claimant who has been laid off from his job, and has drawn the maximum of 16 times the weekly benefit amount, cannot receive further benefits until he has gone iback to work for an employer who is covered by the UC Act, and works at least 30 days.
