Mayor, Council
Mrs. Dorothy C. Davis was re-elected to the office of mayor of the town of Washington in the election on Tuesday! June 8. She received 17 of the total 20 votes cast. Re-elected to the town council were Mrs. T. C. Lea, Mrs. Milton Hawkins, Mrs. Ashby Wayland, Mrs. B. R. Armel, and Mrs. B. M. Miller who was also made treasurer. Mrs. Milton Hawkins is the one member of the council to serve continuously since the ladies were first elected in 1950. To fill a vacant chair on the council, Mrs. J.L.Turner was elected, but says she will not qualify.
