Work is progressing smooth ly in readying the carnival grounds for the annual Washington Firemen’s Carnival to be held June 24, 25, 20 and 27. Crowning of the Carnival Queen will highlight carnival activities on Wednesday 24, the opening night. A metal top has been placed on the food booth, always a popular place, where food will be dispensed nightly by volunteers under the sponsorship Of the Ladies Auxiliary. Fire Chief Gibson Wharton urges all members to report to the carnival grounds where painting and other preparation goes on nightly in order to make this year's Carnival more attractive and gala than ever. Miss Martha Shillingburg, runner up for Carnival Queen last year, filling in for reigning Queen Miss Kaye Johnston. captured a beautiful trophy Fri day night for best appearing Honorary Fire Chief at the Warrenton Firemen’s Carnival Parade.
