Mrs. R u 8 s e 11 Settle and sister Mrs. Luther Elkins of Charleston, W. Va. visited their sister Mrs. Guy Shipe in Lancaster, Pa. for three days, returning to the home of Mrs. Settle on Tuesday evening. On Sunday Mrs. Elkins left for .;er home in W. Va. Mrs. Evelyn Holloway of Washington, D. C. returned home Sunday after spending four days last week with her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Brice Biggers. Mrs. R. W. Quaintance and sister Miss Elsie Ramsey and Mrs. Ruth Reed of Culpeper visited relatives and friends of Mrs. Quaintance in Waynesboro, Staunton and Churchville on Wednesday. On Sunday the three of them visited Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Wood in Arlington and Mrs. Henry Utz who was a patient in Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
The Rev. W. B. Dennis who is recuperating at the home of his daughter Mrs. R. W. Payne of Inlet visited Mrs. R. W. Quaintance and Miss Elsie Ramsey in Slate Mills on Thursday. Edward Dorsey of Slate Mills and Edward Spencer of Culpeper joined the Pathfinders of Fredericksburg in Culpeper recently for a week-end camping trip at Big Meadows camping area on Skyline Drive. The Pathfinders are the young peoples group of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Included in the successful campi ing trip was a service of the Seventh Day Church held Saturday in the Amphitheater. Mrs. Claude Gaines returned home May 22 from Silver Spring, Md., where she has been recuperating following a recent operation. On Saturday she called on Mrs. Hazel Barfield and her aunt Miss Alice Hitt and also Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Barfield of Berryville who were visiting Mr. Barfield’s mother. Sunday guests at the Claude Gaines home were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Gaines and son Buddy of Madison and their house guest Mrs. Carroll Norris of Culpeper, Mr. and Mrs. Olney Kennedy, Mr. and Mrs. Waver Kennedy andMiss Betty Kennedy of Arlington,
and 'MrB.*'t?'M. 'Gaines and Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Gaines. Recent guests for several days of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Tidier were Mrs. Hazel Allen, Miss Jerry Allen, Mrs. Pat Westover and two children of Bayonne, N. J. Week-end guests of the Tidler’s were Mr. and Mrs. Sol Schneider, Joseph Knieff and Miss Winnie Perkins of Silver Spring and Andy Lewis of Alexandria.
