Va. Angus Field
Day, July 13-18
Field Day Week in Virginia is set for July 13-16. The theme for the 1964 program, which will present another phase of our vast marketing system; however, each program will be complete within itself. Monday, July 13th will fihd an energetic group of Angus enthusiasts at Elk Garden Farms, a vast commercial operation in deep southwest Virginia at Galax. The primary focal point here, of course, will be the commercial aspect - how it runs, management practices which have proved most successful, and a tour of the cow herd. Tuesday, July 14th will find us visiting and learning from the knowledge of Millard Pigg at his Dillard Farm, located just west of Martinsville, Va., at Spencer on U. S. Rt. 58. The Virginia Junior Angus State Field Day will be held at VPI in Blacksburg on Wednesday, July 15th with the Block and Bridle Club serving a dutch treat lunch at the Animal Husbandry barn. The State Junior Field Day will feature a meeting of the junior membership during the morning session followed in the afternoon by a series of fifteen minute classes and contests. Jim Stork will be our host on Thursday, July 16th at his farm in Crozet, located twelve miles west of Charlottesville. Rolling-Meadows Farm at Philomont will be the scene for the Friday July 17th Field Day. Philomont is located near Leesburg.
