Ions per minute. The capacity of many wells has not been 'determined because of the fall ure to conduct adequate pump tests. Most requirements are ifor small supplies of water that are usually obtained from depths less than ISO feet; the deepest well on record is 1380 feet and only 4 are deeper than 200 feet. The most successful wells penetrate waterfilled fracture openings that occur mostly in the first 250 feet of bedrock in low areas, such as valleys and draws. Yields are generally greater than 5 gallons per minute from the first 100 feet, and greater than 10 gallons per minute from the first 200 feet for wells located in these low areas. Springs in this portion of the county are fewer in number and lower in yield than in the western portion, but three are used to supply part of the water for the public water system of Washington. The quality of water from most drilled wells in this portion is good although iron and hardwater conditions occur in many areas; acid and sulfurous conditions have been reported in water from a few wells.
