infested with enemy guerrillas and constantly under threat of attack, Sgt. Brown and a small group of personnel completed construction of the base. He was assigned to Stewart in 1962 where he stepped into his present position which is normally held by graduate engineering personnel. His accomplishments during his present assignment are considered "phenominal,” according to authorities there. \ As a direct result of Brown’s ability and concentrated effort, Stewart received nearly $1 million to fund operation and maintenance projects in 1963 and in 1964 is slatedfor nearly a million more in projects. The Air Force newspaper, "Carrier’s Courier,” stated that Brown possess the rare talent not Only to recognize the need for improvement but the tenacity to follow through to completion of that project. Another example of his hard work at Stewart is his formulated and approved fiveyear military construction program for the base. The initial submission has resulted in the overall approval of a construction program totaling $15 million for the period. * Sgt. Brown is active in public and community affairs. For the past year he has served as sergeant-at-arms of the Nashville Men's club and spends much of his time working with youth groups. He is a member of the Masonic Lodge.
