Burley tobacco production is estimated at 23,000,000 pounds, 7 per cent below last year and 5 per cent below average. Yield is forecast at 2300 pounds per acre, highest on record. Acreage is estimated at 10,000 acres, 8 per cent less than 1964. Sun-cured tobacco acreage is expected to be 1,600 acres compared with 1,700 acres last year. Yield is estimated at 1050 pounds per acre. Production is forecast at 1,680,000 pounds, down 7 per cent from 1964.
CORN: Acreage for grain harvest is estimated at 559,000 acres, up 7 per cent over last year. Conditions indicate a yield of 63 bushels, a record high for the state. Production should reach 35,217,000 bu-j shels, some 7,000,000bushels higher than last year and the 5-year average.
WHEAT: Production is placed at 5,133,000 bushels from 174,000 acres for grain, compared with 6,235,000 bu- | shels from 215,000 acres ini 1964. A record high per acre yeild of 29.5 bushels is indi- ! cated, compared with last year’s 29 bushels and the average 24.5 bushels.
