May Change Name
The voters of Virginia will decide on November 8whether the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Immigration shall become known as the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Commerce. This choice will appear in the form of a referendum to be voted upon during the general election next month. The ground was laid by action of the 1964 and 1966 sessions of the General Assembly, which passed resolutions to change VDA’s name to "Department of Agriculture and Commerce. The change will describe the present functions and services of the Department more accurately and encourage a better understanding df 'the* illations hip of agriculture and commerce to our total economy.
