Offers Scholarships
Four college scholarships worth up to $2,000 each will be made available this year to area high school seniors through the Potomac Edison Company's annual Scholarship Program. In previous years, three scholarships were offered but, according to PE’s Washington manager, A. McDaniel, everincreasing interest in the program spurred the decision to boost this year’s total to four. Three of the scholarships will go to students whose parents or guardians are customers of Potomac E dison. The other will be available for a student whose parent or guardian is a company employee.
This year’s scholarship com petition is open to students of all high schools (public, private and parochial) in PE’s service area. The scholarships may be applied at any accredited college or university in the United States. Heading up the panel of judges for applicants will be the director of financial aid of Johns Hopkins University, Dean Rohert L. Strider. Other panel members are Miss Grace Brown, Hood College Registrar and Mr. Benjamin James, Dean of Students at Dickinson College. 'Application forms and booklets explaining the scholarship program in full detail are being distributed to all high schools in this area and will be available through guidance counselors. They may also be obtained at all Potomac Edison offices.
