has been almost general. Families who had been in the $4,000 to $7,000 bracket may now be found in the $7,000 to $10,000 group. Their former spots have been occupied, in turn, by those who have moved up from the $2,500 to $4,000 category. The facts and figures are brought out in a copyrighted study, made by Sales Management, to determine how the population is divided in terms of income brackets. Every section of the country is covered in the breakdown. What was sought was a better financial picture of each community than is afforded by what is called its “average income". Is it made up of a small number of families with big incomes counterbalancing a larger number that have very low incomes, or are earnings more evenly divided? The figures for Rappahannock County show that no less than 29.4 percent of the households had disposable cash incomes of $4,000 or more after payment of their taxes.
